Want The Dude’s Underwear? ‘The Big Lebowski’ Props Set To Score Hundreds Of Thousands At Auction

The Dude abides by this auction. As part of its “Hollywood Legends: Danger, Disaster & Disco” auction, Julien’s Auctions is selling over a dozen items from the all-time classic movie, “The Big Lebowski.” The 16 movie collectibles could fetch a total of nearly $700,000.

One of the coolest items is Jeffrey “The Dude” Lebowski’s iconic bowling shirt and plaid pants. Julien’s estimates the pair of clothes worn by actor Jeff Bridges to score between $100,000 to $200,000.

“The shirt is a vintage yellow and brown rayon short-sleeve bowling shirt with ‘Art’ sewn above the front pocket featuring embroidered bowling ball and pins,” Julien’s writes in the description lot. “The left sleeve has an ‘American Bowling Congress League Champion 1964-1965’ patch, and ‘Medina Sod’ is sewn on the back. Accompanied by a costumer’s tag that reads, ‘Character: Dude / Ch #16 / Scenes: 75-78 / Description: D8 / Mortuary / Ext. Point Dume / Int. Alley / Bar.’ Bridges wears this shirt in the final three scenes of the film, including the ‘spreading of Donny’s ashes’ scene.”

You can even own The Dude’s underwear! It’s part of a lot along with the character’s v-neck t-shirt and socks.

“Bridges can be seen wearing this t-shirt in the second half of the film in various scenes including where he first meets The Stranger (Sam Elliott) at the bowling alley and in the scene with Maude Lebowski (Julianne Moore) and Knox Harrington (David Thewlis),” writes Julien’s. “The underwear can be seen at various points in the film when The Dude’s shirt rides up on him, revealing the undergarment below.”

Julien’s didn’t want to be in a world of pain, so they are putting up for bidding Walter Sobchak’s ensemble. The seven-piece set was worn by actor John Goodman.

“The ensemble is comprised of a pair of cotton Canyon Ridge khaki shorts, size 50; a cotton and polyester Cotton Mist brown polo shirt, size 4XL; a custom made multi-pocketed tan hunting vest, no size or labels present; a pair of dark green cotton socks; and a pair of distressed green canvas and black leather combat boots, size 13W. Together with a poster of the film featuring Goodman wearing the ensemble,” notes the auction house.

And finally, if you want to tie the room together, fans can own the Persian-style rug that was used in the movie’s dream sequence. Its estimated value is between $10,000 to $20,000.
