Topps Immortalizes Rob Gronkowski’s Iconic First Pitch Spike With New Card

Rob Gronkowski’s iconic first pitch will now be celebrated in card form. Gronk, an all-time great tight end who spent the majority of his career with the New England Patriots, spiked his first pitch before the Boston Red Sox game on Monday, mimicking his touchdown spike celebration. Topps has commemorated with moment with a new Topps Now card.

Gronk’s Topps Now cards run $8.99 per card, but the sports collectibles company is offering deals if you’re buying in bulk. Base card parallels will be randomly inserted into every print run. Parallels include:

  • /49 Blue
  • /25 Purple
  • /10 Red
  • /5 Orange
  • /1 Gold

Topps also offered one on-card Gronk auto in a pack for $169.99. However, those packs sold out nearly instantly. Those packs include one foil-numbered on-card auto numbered to /49 or less.

Gronk served as the marshal to the Boston Marathon on Monday morning prior to his appearance at the Red Sox game to celebrate Patriots’ Day.

During his nine seasons with the Patriots, Gronk:

  • Won three Super Bowl championships (XLIX, LI, LIII)
  • Was named to the Pro Bowl five times (2011-2015)
  • Earned four First-team All-Pro selections (2011-2014)
  • Led the league in receiving touchdowns in 2011 (17)
  • Set the single-season record for receiving yards by a tight end in 2011 (1,327)

Gronk briefly retired following the 2018 season, but came back to the gridiron in 2020 to team with Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In his first season with the Bucs, Gronk played a key role in their Super Bowl LV victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, catching two touchdowns in the game. He played one more season in 2021 before ultimately retiring for a second time.
